About the baskets
Handcrafted by skilled weavers from Ghana's North, these baskets are woven from veta vera grass, carrying generations of expertise and cultural exchange. Each basket is a testament to a meticulous process that spans 3 to 10 days, involving twisting, dyeing, and weaving. This ensures that every piece is one-of-a-kind, reflecting the artisan's touch and celebrating the richness of Ghanaian culture.
Upon receiving your Aketekete basket, you might find it slightly flattened due to shipping. No worries, though – reshaping your basket is quick and easy.

Let us show you a little trick!
Note that the process does not hurt the basket in any way, as they are very durable and flexible. You will only need:
- A bucket with water (or a sink)
- Your crafty hands

- Dampen the basket inside and out with water where it seems affected.
- Gently mold the basket with your hands, recreating its original form.
- Allow it to air dry in a well-ventilated area, avoiding direct sunlight.
- To maintain its shape during drying, consider placing newspaper or kraft paper inside.

Taking care of your basket
While veta vera grass is a very durable material and your basket can last for years, we advise using a normal brush to clean your basket. We strongly recommend avoiding humidity, direct sunlight, and dust.
