Sagoma Ceramiche

Ilaria Loriga

Rome, Italy

It is imperfection that creates uniqueness, and since we ourselves are imperfect beings, it is precisely from our emotions and inner selves that we must begin in order to create something truly unique and express what we carry within.

Sagoma Ceramiche was born from founder Ilaria Loriga’s desire to express herself through matter and craftsmanship. Her main inspiration comes from her homeland, Sardinia, while her personal journey and life in Rome also deeply influence her creations. After beginning as a self-taught ceramic artist, Ilaria refined her techniques through specialized courses and later attended a sculpture academy, developing a practice rooted in both artistic research and traditional craftsmanship.

You can safely wash them in the dishwasher or by hand.

Yes, I also work on commission while maintaining Sagoma’s distinctive style.

I have a studio in Rome, at Via Silvio Pellico 7, where my ceramics are exhibited and available for purchase.

Techniques

Each ceramic piece is entirely handcrafted without the use of molds or an electric wheel. Sagoma works with the three main ceramic techniques — pinching, coiling, and slab building — while also incorporating personal methods developed over time through experience and experimentation. It is a slow craft that requires precision, care, and attention to detail.
