Giacomo Nathan Viva (Milan, 1991)
He grew up in Milan surrounded by drawing, cartoons, and urban visual culture. He studied at the Brera Art High School, then continued his training in the field of craftsmanship, while simultaneously developing a path as a writer and street artist, which he still pursues today. After working in workshops as a decorator and miniaturist, in 2019 he discovered ceramics at the G.I. Cova School, where he worked as an assistant, lab technician, and instructor in wheel throwing and modeling.
From 2021 to 2023, he collaborated with Officine Saffi as a prototype maker and teacher. In 2023, he founded Viva Ceramics, his studio in Milan, where he currently teaches and develops his artistic practice.
I realized I wanted to work with ceramics the moment I opened the kiln for the first time.
Every time it’s a surprise, sometimes positive, sometimes negative.
I love risk; I like to experiment and sometimes even go a bit blindly.
A bit like my life—one day at a time.
I have been influenced by graffiti, the use of substances, and a city like Milan—chaotic, toxic, and angry.
And within all of this, through ceramics, I found peace.
