“Embracing the fusion between nature and design.”
INI CERAMIQUE is a handmade ceramics studio based in Bourgogne, France, founded by the designer, Inhee Ma. Her ceramics work aims to create decorative pieces, such as vases, teapots, cups, bowls or plates. Through the development of collections built around a minimalist wabi sabi aesthetic, her creations generate a dialogue between craftsmanship, art and nature.
Graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier, Inhee Ma is from South Korea and is developing a multidisciplinary activity, combining contemporary art, design and crafts. The INI CERAMIQUE collections emerge from the association between aesthetic inspiration and the functionality of everyday objects.
All INI CERAMIQUE pieces are handcrafted by the designer, in her workshop. In chamotte stoneware, they are then fired at high temperature and present a contrast between a shiny transparent glazed interior and a raw exterior emphasizing the natural texture of the clay.

Harmony in Clay: The Artistic Fusion of Nature, Tradition, and Contemporary Design
Inhee Ma is essentially influenced by contemporary and classic art, traditional craftsmanship and the beautiful complexity of nature. She then seeks to build a bridge connecting these disciplines and the conception of her collections, aiming to offer simple design in my ceramics and pottery.
Her work is centered around the creation of decorative pieces. She likes to play with the functionality of the object and its materialization, whether in terms of texture or form.
Creating a piece is a long process which requires patience and commitment. Inhee uses the slab technic to create her objects and then lets them dry for few days, before sanding them hand, in order to showcase the beautiful texture of the chamotte stoneware. After dusting them off, she then illustrates some of them by applying unique underglaze patterns. They are finally fired twice to assure more durability and quality.

Inhee Ma only uses high quality stoneware, from Europe.
She has a preference for this chamotte clay because of its raw and natural aspect.
This allows her to play with the texture and neutral tone of the stoneware. This is, for instance, why she keeps the outside of her creations raw and only glazes the inside of her vases.

She is working on finding the balance between the notions of aesthetics and functionality, gaining inspiration from nature, architecture and Art.
Inhee takes the most fun when she is designing new models. She loves the creative process which comes from a simple idea and slowly takes forms while exploring different paths.
