These earrings are indeed made out of sugar combined with different types of resins and pigments, the pin is in sterling silver (nickel free). They are all unique pieces, there aren't two identical pieces - this means that the pieces you will purchase might slightly change in size and shape compared to the ones depicted in this picture.

This material is stable yet still can result fragile - you will need to treat them with care. Don't drop or squeeze. They are extremely light in weight - not waterproof and not edible. Although not waterproof, if you wear them while it is raining outside, a few drops of water won't affect them. The material might shed some granules occasionally, but don't worry, it won't change the overall appearance of the piece.

When working Carla Movia's main interest is the transformation of everyday materials and objects, into pieces that contain the memory of such materials yet ‘trick’ the eye of the viewer into thinking they are something completely different. Her exploration in the transformation of sugar, an ingredient that is present in any household in the world, aims to give such material a new purpose, resulting into pieces that resemble candies, minerals or corals. These earrings want to be the antidote to all the cheaply mass produced pieces one could find in any big-box store.
