Espresso Cup
As a true Italian, I couldn't help but create ceramics that honor one of the greatest traditions of my country: coffee, or more precisely, espresso. This coffee cup is designed for enjoying it short, strong, and piping hot. You can add a bit of milk or sugar if you like; I promise I won't judge.
The material used for the creation of this ceramic is a black stoneware, slightly brown in some areas. It is not a commercial clay but rather artisanal, crafted by an artisan on Lake Orta who sources all the materials for the mixture locally, from different areas of Piedmont. Created on the pottery wheel and hand-decorated by Giulio, it expresses influences from Japanese ceramic firing, a source of great fascination for the artisan. The deep black color evokes the spirit of raku, and his goal is to recreate modern ceramics that still pay homage to tradition.
