Paolo Santangelo is a ceramic artist - known as the "circle artist". Paolo was born in Puglia, and studied in Milano, where he mixed up his traditional ceramics skills with the minimalistic and brutalist style of the design's cities. Paolo has communication and styling background, indeed after an experience with magazines and fashion brands, he decided to build his own business and create PAOLO SANTANGELO.
The brand features unique ceramic pieces very well recognizable for the micro and macro combinations of circles and the pop colors.
Paolo has his own studio in Milano and he designs for other brands like C'era Fragrance (scented candles for the house) or Patricia Urquiola studio. Lately, Paolo started participating in some art fair and open a new studio in Puglia, where he produces most of his vases.

Value in the details
Mixing slip casting and hand building
Paolo make his object using white liquid clay and plaster molds, where he pours the clay inside.
In the meanwhile he makes the circles with the clay, after he put all together with "barbottine".
Two firings
The long production process requires 2 firings: the first one to obtain the "biscotto" and the second to fix the colors.

Behind Paolo's research there is a strong identity: bright color blocks and circles are the main elements.
