"Truth lies not in a single dream, but in many dreams." (P.P.P.)
Simona Materi began her journey in 2001. Her research has formal and aesthetic roots, with particular attention dedicated to the "unique piece." The jewelry, in its uniqueness, aspires beyond the intrinsic value of the object to the status of wearable artwork. The selection of materials and the experimentation with refined techniques of craftsmanship are distinctive elements of her stylistic signature.
Her education was further enriched by specialization in "artistic treatment of metals" obtained at the Institute of Higher Education of sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro in the Marche region, following training in "goldsmith jewelry" obtained at the excellent training center of Tarì in Campania and the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.
She has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, as well as conducting lectures and workshops.

Artisanal Mastery: Crafting Materi's Collection
The collection proposed by Materi is crafted using skilled goldsmith techniques to ensure reproducibility while maintaining the high quality of Made in Italy. The conception of projects related to the collections occurs in several steps, from the idea of representing or interpreting something to completely transforming it.
Each piece has a unique production time, ranging from a small earring that takes an hour of productive life in all its phases to more elaborate products that may take days, months, or weeks to genesis. The techniques utilized are an amalgamation of ancient goldsmith benchworking techniques, lost-wax casting, assembly of micro-fused parts, assembly of parts made through manual drawing of sheets and wires, as well as 3D design.
Bronze Elegance: The Essence of SUPERNATURAL
The primary material used for the SUPERNATURAL collection is bronze. The choice of elements that constitute it defines the color, which can vary in different shades.
Focusing the majority of the collection on bronze reflects the characteristics of the metal, including its good resistance to corrosion, its natural ability to oxidize and protect the alloy itself, and the ease of removal. In the case of the SUPERNATURAL collection, the preparation involves creating injection waxes to be melted using the lost-wax casting technique, one of the oldest metalworking techniques, and assembling elements made through other processes such as drawing.
The main benefit of using bronze lies in its hardness and color, which closely resemble those found in nature, making it well-suited for representing natural themes.
Inspired Narratives: SUPERNATURAL's Surrealistic Journey
Thematic collections draw inspiration from various experiences and sources of inspiration. SUPERNATURAL originates from the continuous observation of living spaces, where predominantly naturalistic environments offer countless inspirations. In particular, the collection stems from spending time in a playground with a child fascinated by communication through the discovery of shapes. There is a need to communicate in a common language starting from the observation of elements offered by nature: leaves, twigs, berries, seeds, etc. These are objects with which to resonate and discover their characteristics to understand one another. The idea of hyperrealism, an extremely contemporary direction in other artistic disciplines, is translated into surrealistic compositions for the unique pieces, narrating the encounter of two worlds: the real and the imaginary, one's own new flora.
You might wonder...
In general, it is, unless one has developed a specific allergy to the materials it consists of, such as copper, tin, and other elements.
