Sanem is the founder of La Fabrika, born in Turkey and now based in Monza, Italy. After 15 years in corporate life, she chose to step away and move toward a more tactile and grounded way of working.

What began as a small personal studio in Istanbul, and later evolved through Athens, is rooted in a slow and intentional approach to making. Drawn to the grounding nature of clay, she works entirely by hand—embracing focus, time, and the creation of tangible forms.

The name reflects this philosophy: while “fabrika” evokes industrial production, here it becomes a space where thoughts and ideas are transformed into objects. “La” carries both a personal meaning and a connection to Italy.

A key turning point in her practice came through collaborations with chefs and restaurants, developing pieces designed for the table and conceived as a subtle extension of the food itself.

Since then, her focus has centered on tableware, imagined as quiet surfaces that support and elevate shared moments.

At the core of La Fabrika is an “imperfectly perfect” philosophy, where subtle irregularities and asymmetry define each object’s identity. Natural, earthy tones and hand-building techniques shape a calm, timeless aesthetic.

Working primarily with stoneware, Sanem creates durable, functional objects—designed to be used, lived with, and return to the table every day.
