Mireia Serrano is the artist behind TOU Ceràmica, a ceramist since 2019, with a background in Fine Arts and a master's degree in ceramics.
Inspired by the forest and the Mediterranean coast of Empordà, Mireia incorporates the small details, textures, and inhabitants of these landscapes into her pieces.
With TOU, she creates an imaginary rooted in nature and conveys her love for ceramics and the potter's wheel. Her pieces aim to reflect her passion for nature and the craft, making each creation a tribute to the environment that inspires her.

Slow life of Ceramics
Her pieces are made one by one on the potter's wheel, as it is her preferred technique. However, she also hand sculpts and uses molds for some details.
The wheel requires several steps, such as creating the pieces, trimming or polishing the bases, and adding decoration, textures, or handles. Then, they are fired, glazed, and fired again at a higher temperature, around 1230°C.
Finally, when they come out of the kiln for the second time, they are ready for use, except for the pieces to which she adds wooden elements, which still need to go through the process of attaching these.
It is quite a long and somewhat slow process, but she enjoys it immensely.
Durable and Versatile Stonware
All the clay she uses is high-temperature stoneware, available in a range of colors. This type of clay is known for its exceptional durability and resistance to thermal shock, making it an ideal choice for culinary applications. Its robust nature ensures that it can withstand significant temperature changes, which is particularly important for both functional and decorative pieces used in cooking and serving.
The Fusion of Art, Technique, and Environment
Her personal project of handmade ceramics merges a deep admiration for the craft, a passion for the potter's wheel technique, and a profound love for the natural environment.
