Playing with Clay

Born in Lisbon, Portugal to British parents, Daisy has grown up immersed in different cultures. After studying art and design abroad, Daisy returned to Portugal to settle in to her country home and develop her craft with clay. Using hand-building techniques like slabs and coils, she takes a playful approach her making, adding different handle shapes to simple forms to create timeless objects.

Great care for Comfort

Each item starts with the rolling out of a slab of clay. It is then cut to size and made into the shape of the cup, mug, or vase desired. Great care is taken with the rim and base of the items, to ensure the most tactile and comfortable experience when drinking or handling. A coil is then used to create a handle, that will bring the form to life. Items can take from 1h to 5h to make, and each step of the process is meticulous.
