La valeur dans les détails

The relationship between glass and light

Alberto and Paola use lampworking, a traditional glassworking technique in which rods of glass are melted using a torch and then shaped by hand. In few minutes, glass is softened in the flame and manipulated with simple tools, gravity, and breath to create intricate forms from tiny beads and figurines to detailed jewelry and decorative objects. This technique is special as it allows artisans to work on a small, intimate scale, enabling highly detailed and refined pieces that are often not achievable with other glass techniques, reflecting the unique touch of the maker. There is no mold only skill, timing, and creativity. Because of its hands-on nature, lampworked glass often carries a sense of soul and presence. You can "see" the artisan’s gesture frozen in the glass. Besides, the relationship between glass and light becomes especially magical in lampworking the way colors glow, how transparency plays with form, and how every angle reveals something new.
