All food sourced from the haberdashery

Sabrina Lee is a designer based in London, born and raised in Hong Kong. She began Plate Button in 2021 while studying at the AA School of Architecture, where she once used tiny white buttons to represent plates in a scaled model of a restaurant. This small idea later led to a creative challenge she set for herself: to use only materials found in the haberdashery (merceria) to create miniature food.

Rather than making hyper-realistic miniature, Plate Button recreates food in a playful and imaginative way using existing materials, such as buttons and beads. The choice of materials gives a sense of nostalgia, highlighting the sentimental value of food.
