“The human invented jewels to be able to wear sculptures.”

Zoé is a Belgian goldsmith based in Rome. She first studied architecture in Bruxelles for three years, then she felt the need to leave her native country and culture, to discover a new way of living. She moved to Rome to continue her studies: she signed up to the course of industrial design at European Institute of Design. Then she concluded her training at the Goldsmith Academy in Rome. There, she learned the traditional techniques of working with precious metals to become a jewellery artisan.
From that point she experimented in her lab organic shapes, different techniques and combinations of textures.

Her passion drives her to a constant research. Consequently, over time the techniques, colours and shapes have changed. Each one of Zoé's collections represents a period of her life. But the overall describes the development of her knowledge and requirements.

Little by little Zoé understood which was the thread who cross all her course. From the passion for the construction of models in architecture, to industrial design and goldsmithing, she noticed her love for the small size constructions, the meticulous work and the precision.
In jewellery there is a major freedom that allows her to express herself without too many constraints.

Finally she understood that it is the manual creation and construction of a jewel that interests her…the relationship with the material. Zoé likes to think that she works more as a sculptor than as a costume designer.
